Elphinstone College

Overview

Elphinstone College of Mumbai is one of the reputed and prestigious colleges which is accredited with the NAAC 'A' Grade under the affiliation of Dr. Homi Bhabha State University. The college is known for offering various undergraduate programs in the Arts and Commerce, as well as Science streams such as B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc. Apart from the aided courses, the Elphinstone College also offers self financed courses in the disciplines of Management and Technology. However, admission to these programmes is strictly based on the merits obtained by the students in their 10+2 or last qualifying examinations. Besides, the Elphinstone College also provides the option of certification courses/add-on courses in Remote Sensing (RS) Technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in the duration of 3 months. Also, Elphinstone College is recognized for its historic significance and gothic architecture. Recently, the building of the college has been restored by the Kala Ghoda Association and was once awarded the Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for Culture Heritage Conservation, by UNESCO in 2004. Another feather in the cap of the Elphinstone College is its facilities for the students' support such as placements, student clubs, hostels etc., and many more. The well equipped college has a library with over lakhs of books ranging from oldest and rarest books in the country to most latest or contemporary books.
