Overview
The Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE) was established in 2016 to address the nation's growing need for skilled professionals in the petroleum and energy sectors. Located in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, IIPE operates from a temporary campus within Andhra University, offering modern laboratories, research facilities, and an e-library. The institute has been allotted 201.8 acres in Vangali Village, Sabbavaram mandal, with the permanent campus expected to be operational by July 2025. IIPE offers four-year B.Tech programs in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, admitting students based on JEE Advanced rankings. Additionally, it provides a two-year M.Sc program in Applied Geology and doctoral (Ph.D.) programs across various specializations. The curriculum is designed in collaboration with industry giants like HPCL, IOCL, ONGC, and GAIL, ensuring alignment with current industry needs. Admissions
Admission to IIPE's undergraduate B.Tech programs is primarily through the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced. Candidates must first qualify in JEE Main and subsequently secure a competitive rank in JEE Advanced. The seat allocation process is conducted through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA), considering the candidate's rank, preferences, and reservation categories.
