Overview
IIM Ahmedabad was established on 11 December 1961 with the active support of the Government of India, the Government of Gujarat, Harvard Business School, and prominent members of Indian industry.
In 2020 it was ranked first among the business schools in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. During the period 2017–21, it has been ranked first amongst the management institutions.
The flagship programme offered at IIM Ahmedabad is MBA. MBA students are taught to face complex business challenges and make the right decisions. They are trained through case method courses, tech simulations, FIELD projects, introspective exercises, and others. MBA is taught by expert faculty members. The college provides global exposure to students through student exchange programmes.

Admissions
Admission to IIMA's flagship MBA program is highly competitive. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/PwD) and a valid CAT score. The selection process includes:
- CAT Score: Candidates are shortlisted based on their performance in the Common Admission Test (CAT). The cutoff percentile typically hovers around 99.
- Analytical Writing Test (AWT) and Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates undergo AWT and PI rounds, assessing their communication skills, analytical thinking, and overall suitability for the program.
- Final Selection: The final merit list is prepared considering CAT scores, academic records, work experience, and performance in AWT and PI.
Scholarship
IIMA offers various scholarships to support meritorious and financially disadvantaged students:
